Vacuum and Cryogenic services and minor mechanical works

This procedure concerns the provision of vacuum and cryogenic services and minor mechanical works to support the construction and maintenance / commissioning activities on ITER Cryogenic and vacuum distribution system including equipment to F4E. These services will range from the test and service current cryogenic and vacuum components to supply and installation of several components such as dewar station or supply, installation and test a cryogenic line to connect the cryoplant to a distribution loop.

Supply of the ITER Neutral Beam Magnetic Shielding

Supply of Neutral Beam Magnetic Shielding units (expected 2 units, up to a maximum of 3 units). Each system includes 9 resistive magnets and a passive shield composed by iron and carbon steel plates. Supply is based on build to print specification and include manufacturing design, procurement, manufacturing, factory assembly and testing, documentation and shipping to ITER. Typical coil dimension 4mx4m, 3 tons of copper conductor. Overall dimension of one shield is 15m x 5m x 5m, with a mass of 600 tons. Part of the passive shield has also nuclear safety function, being support of the Neutral Beam Vessel, and shall be manufactured according to RCCMR 2007 (support section). Material shall follow ITER requirement on impurities.

Provision of operations services and administrative services. F4E departments participating to this Framework Contract are in charge of providing horizontal services to F4E organisation in the following areas (non-exhaustive):

Supply and Dismantling of Electrical Overhead Travelling (EOT) Cranes with Capacities up to 15 tonnes.

This Technical Description concerns the supply and the dismantling of an estimated quantity of 30 EOT cranes with capacities from 1 up to 15 tonnes. This Market Survey will be followed by an Invitation to Tender that is planned to be issued in October 2025.

Provision of Preliminary Civil Engineering Consultancy Services for FCC Study.

This Market Survey concerns the provision of civil engineering consultancy services for studies to be undertaken for the civil engineering design of the Future Circular Collider (FCC) at CERN in the Pre Technical Design Review (Pre-TDR) phase. The services will be awarded to a firm or a group of firms, who will be responsible for executing the analysis, design and studies specified in the contract. This Market Survey will be followed by an Invitation to Tender foreseen to be sent to qualified and selected firms and groups of firms in Q4 2025 for a contract to commence in Q2 2026. The future Invitation to Tender will be adjudicated on a best-value-for-money basis.

CERN

Supply of Electricity to CERN. This Market Survey concerns the multi-year supply of electricity to CERN across two distinct periods. The first concerns the delivery of up to 500 GWh per year on a block and spot contract basis during the 2027–2028 period, when CERN’s accelerator complex will be shut down for scheduled maintenance and upgrade activities. The second period concerns the supply of up to 1,500 GWh per year, with integrated consumption flexibility around a reference load curve being a critical element of the contract, after the accelerator restart and the respective operational period from 2029 to 2033. At the same time, CERN needs to integrate its Photovoltaic (PV) Corporate Power Purchase Agreements (CPPA) via an Aggregator into its main electricity supply; this is included as an option in the current Market Survey. The Market Survey will be followed by two separate Invitations to Tender (one for each of the afore-mentioned periods) to qualified and selected firms.

The first Invitation to Tender for the 2027-2028 period is planned to be issued in September 2025. The adjudication basis for this Invitation to Tender is intended to be the Lowest Compliant. The supply shall be delivered to CERN starting 1 January 2027. The Contract will have a duration of two years.

The second Invitation to Tender for the 2029-2033 period is planned to be issued in 2026. The adjudication basis for this Invitation to Tender is intended to be the Best Value for Money.
The supply shall be delivered to CERN starting 1 January 2029. The Contract will have a duration of up to five years (3 years and 2 optional years).

Supply, installation and commissioning of one (1) high precision single crystal X-ray diffractometer for the BL13-XALOC beamline.

University of Seville

Supply of an intense source of negative light ions for the 3 MV Tandem accelerator of the National Accelerator Center (CNA) of the University of Seville.

European Spallation Source

Supply and service agreement for detailed design, fabrication, verification, transport and installation of the radial collimator. The radial collimator shall be installed on a support structure that will also be used as a lift. The radial collimator shall be installed in front of the detectors with a coverage of approximately 165°. The radial collimator shall oscillate during operation and that should be integrated in the design. The support & lift structure will be included in this tender as an option, but the final design of the radial collimator shall not prevent future integration with the support & lift structure.

European Spallation Source

Supply and service agreement for detailed design, fabrication, verification transport and installation of a sample stage. The sample stage shall be attached to a fixed pedestal approximately 2m above ground. The configuration of the sample stage shall consist of the following; translation in z-direction, translation in x-y direction, rotation around z-axis and an option to add a tilt stage. The sample stage shall have the capability to align samples of various sizes. The required axis are X, Y and Z with a range of 50 mm and a precision of 0.02 mm. The range of ω of +/- 185°.

European Spallation Source

ESS is requesting suppliers to submit tenders in order to conclude a framework agreement for supporting the operation and continuous development of the ESS facility in Lund. The scope of the agreement encompasses design, investigations, project management and expert support related to the buildings, landscape and installations at the ESS site, and includes architectural, structural engineering, earth works, sprinkler design, electrical design, control & monitoring, cranes, ventilation and BIM services. The volume of the services is estimated to 5 MSEK per year.

European Spallation Source

ESS intends to procure the design and construction of a vertical field split coil superconducting magnet with a minimum central magnetic field of 10.5-14 Tesla and a variable temperature insert (VTI). The latter shall allow normal operation down to 1.5 K or the insertion and cooling of a dilution and/or He3 ultralow temperature (ULT) insert (ULT inserts not part of this tender). The magnet will be used to perform scientific experiments with high magnetic fields and (very) low temperatures on neutron-scattering instruments. The magnet will be principally used on the neutron spectroscopy instruments CSPEC and TREX, so very low background scattering is extremely important. For this reason, the magnet will sit inside a vacuum tank containing the neutron detector assemblies.

The European Spallation Source (ESS) is preparing to issue a tender for the design, production, assembly, and procurement of printed circuit boards (PCBs) as part of its ongoing projects in advanced scientific instrumentation. This Specific Advance Notice (SAN) serves to inform potential suppliers of the upcoming procurement and provides a preliminary overview of the services required. The contract will include: • PCB Design Services: Design of PCBs with varying complexity based on project requirements. • PCB Production and Assembly: Manufacturing and assembly of PCBs, including component placement and soldering. • Component Procurement: Sourcing of electronic components with pricing subject to market fluctuations and currency exchange rates.

This Market Survey will be followed by an Invitation to Tender issued to qualified and selected firms, which is foreseen to be issued in Q4 2025 and will be adjudicated on a lowest compliant bid basis.

Supply of a 3 T Solenoid Magnet System for the ISOLDE Experiment. This Technical Specification concerns the supply of a superconducting solenoid magnet system that shall operate at 4.3 K and provide an operational magnetic field of 3 T. The delivery is foreseen within 18 months from notification of the award of the Contract.

Supply of oil-tanks for oil-immersed high voltage filter chokes. This Technical Description concerns the supply of oil-tanks for 72.5 kV and 40 A DC high-voltage oil-immersed filter chokes. This Market Survey will be followed by an Invitation to Tender that is planned to be issued in Q4 2025. The estimated quantity to be delivered is six oil-tanks.

The In Vessel Viewing Port Extension (IVV-PE) connects the Vacuum Vessel (VV) to the cryostat (CR) and propagates the primary vacuum from the VV to the outside of the CR into the so-called port cells.
The procurement includes six IVV-PE (6m*1m*1m) of 20mm SS304L bended plates, and consists in:
• procuring the raw material (according to IO specification),
• machining the flanges and plates,
• welding IVV to flanges and bellow, (Note: bellows are procured by the IO),
• verifying the welded assembly with Non Destructive Tests (NDT),
• baking the final assembly (200°C, 24h),
• helium leak testing the final assembly,
• Packing and delivery.
