Granada’s industry has taken a decisive step forward in its positioning within the future of energy through its outstanding participation at the ITER Business Forum 2025 (IBF2025), held in Marseille (France) from April 23 to 25. Industry Office, together with the IFMIF-DONES Spain Consortium, led the largest business mission organized to date, bringing 14 companies from Granada, represented by 18 professionals, to the most important industrial event in the nuclear fusion sector.

The IBF2025 gathered over 1,100 participants from 436 companies across 27 countries, consolidating itself as the key platform for establishing technological and commercial partnerships around the ITER project, the world’s largest scientific and technological initiative in the field of fusion energy.

Granada’s delegation had a pioneering presence in the Big Science Spain area, organized by CDTI Innovación, where participating companies showcased their capabilities, identified new collaboration opportunities, and strengthened their role within the science industry. Of the 34 Spanish companies present, 14 were from Granada, demonstrating the growing significance of the region in this strategic sector for the future of global energy.

During the forum, Granada’s representatives actively participated in plenary sessions, specialized presentations, and B2B meetings aimed at fostering international collaborations. As part of the agenda, the delegation also visited the ITER project facilities in Cadarache, the world’s largest fusion reactor under construction, closely linked to the international program that includes IFMIF-DONES.

José Aguilar, PMO of IFMIF-DONES, and Roberto Álvarez, representative of Industry Office, expressed their satisfaction with Granada’s leading role at this international event, highlighting the talent, innovation, and technological capabilities of Granada’s companies as key elements for the success of the ITER program.
